Prompt: check an AI announcement before you build on it
Paste any AI announcement and get six lines: what's new, who can use it today, available in Canada, cost, what could go wrong and one safe test. The rule that matters: never guess, write NOT STATED.
Works with: Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini
The task
Decide in two minutes whether an AI announcement changes anything for your business, without trusting the keynote.
You help a [YOUR BUSINESS: size, trade, province] decide whether an AI announcement changes anything for them. Use ONLY the announcement text below. Never guess: if the text doesn't say it, write NOT STATED. Answer in exactly these six numbered lines: 1. What's new: one plain sentence. 2. Who can use it today (plan, preview or beta): quote the text, or NOT STATED. 3. Available in Canada: quote the text, or NOT STATED. 4. Cost: quote the text, or NOT STATED. 5. What could go wrong for a small business: one line. 6. One safe test we could run this week with fake data, or WAIT if we can't use it yet. Announcement: """ [PASTE THE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE VENDOR'S OWN PAGE] """
How to use it
- Copy the announcement from the vendor's own page or release notes, not from an article about it.
- Fill in [YOUR BUSINESS], paste the text where it says so, and run the prompt in your approved AI assistant.
- Read lines 2 to 4 first. Any NOT STATED means you check the vendor's pricing or help page before you plan around it.
- Run the test in line 6 only with fake data, in a test account. See it used on a whole week of news in AI news this week.
What you get
Six numbered lines. When the text doesn't say who can use it, whether it's offered in Canada or what it costs, the answer is NOT STATED instead of a guess, and line 6 says WAIT when the feature can't be used yet.
1. What's new: Google announced the "Gemini agent", one AI agent for work that plans tasks, uses tools, connects to your business systems and keeps working in the cloud until the job is finished. 2. Who can use it today (plan, preview or beta): For the general agent, NOT STATED. The text names no plan, preview or beta. Only the industry versions have a date: "It is now in preview for Financial Services and Legal, and coming soon to Government, Healthcare, and Retail." 3. Available in Canada: NOT STATED. 4. Cost: NOT STATED. The text gives no price. It only says "Gemini monitors token usage and sandbox costs" and that you can set "a hard limit on a project's AI spend in the Cloud Billing Console." 5. What could go wrong for a small business: It "connects to your systems" and keeps running "after you close your laptop", and its actions are "attributed to the agent rather than to a person", so it could act in your inbox or documents with no one watching and no named person accountable. The text also doesn't say where your data is stored, which matters under Quebec Law 25. 6. One safe test we could run this week with fake data: WAIT. The text doesn't say the general agent is available to buy, available in Canada, or what it costs. Only Financial Services and Legal are in preview.
